I was fortunate enough to spend two-and-a-half weeks in Japan last December. We were awestruck by the serenity of the shrines and by the expanse of the temples which were always astoundingly peaceful. You really feel like you have to stop and reflect.
I love the look of Japanese shrines. Very beautiful and calm and relaxed an peaceful. 馃檪
I found them very interesting compared to the ornate and colorful temples in China.

I absolutely agree. I am not Buddhist but I stopped and said a few prayers remembering my dad. It just felt right.
So peaceful!
They really were. And not crowded with tourists (like me).
